Over the past years, TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) has been supporting the elimination of Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs) to trade in the East African Community (EAC) through National Monitoring Committees (NMCs) and Regional Monitoring Committee convened by the EAC Secretariat. In Rwanda, the support was channeled through the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM). The NMC is a committee established by each Partner State in the EAC for the purpose of elimination of NTBs. NMC in Rwanda is under the National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC) that is housed at the MINICOM. The technical support provided by TMEA was geared towards improvement in the operations of the NTFC for effective advocacy in the fight against NTBs affecting Rwanda which hinder the seamless movement of goods across borders and restrict access to markets.
